In lieu of a bumpdate...

Here are just a few random tidbits on the latest shenanigans.

They seem to prefer proper posture.  If I dare to slouch, they take aim at my ribs, and boy are they getting stronger!

Daddy put his face by my belly and put his hands on each side.  He was really quiet... Then he said (in a normal voice) "boo!" and he felt the girls move back away from the sound.  For some reason, we couldn't stop laughing.

The other night, daddy fell asleep with his hand on my belly.  The baby that was underneath that hand valiantly attempted to move his hand by punching it.

At the latest doctor's appointment, as the doctor was looking for the heartbeat of one of the girls, she kicked the monitor the doctor was holding!  She hit it so hard that she pushed it away from my belly.  They really are getting stronger.

We found out why we can really feel the movements of Baby A and can't feel Baby B as much.  Turns out the placenta of Baby B is facing forward, so it's absorbing most of the kicking we would normally feel.  The rest of her kicks are being absorbed by whatever soft tissue she is kicking near my back.

Week 26 Bumpdate

How far along: 26 weeks!

Baby Size: About the size of an eggplant...

Weight gain: Up to 15 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yuppers!  And even some of those shirts are getting tight.

Stretch marks: Few and far between

Sleep: Starting to get worse on this front.  Some nights I just can't sleep and most nights I wake up with at least one hip aching.

Gender: Girls!

Best moment this week:
Got to get out of the house a bit this week.  I like to take walks to tire out the girls, but that hasn't happened much lately, but this week has been good.

Looking forward to: Right now I just can't wait to meet my girls!

What I miss: Not having to worry if there was alcohol in my food.

Movement: All the time!  Of course they do take breaks, but I swear that they also take turns.

Food cravings:  Still no real cravings, I just want to eat all the time.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!  It's a great thing considering that I'm always hungry.

Labor Signs: No, thank goodness.

Symptoms:  Just a big belly.  I'm starting to waddle a little, though.

Belly Button in or out?  Out to see the world!

Rings on or off? On!

Mood: Starting to get a bit moody, but trying to keep it to a minimum.  I blame the cabin fever in addition to the hormones.

Glucose test

I went for my glucose test this week.  I'm glad I got the first appointment that they had for the day.  That place filled up pretty quickly!

I think the hardest part of the test for me was the prep.  Twelve hours of no eating or drinking before the test.  TWELVE!  These little girls were doing flips first thing in the morning because they were hungry.

Then you go into the testing facility and they do all the lovely paperwork and then they draw blood and also put a drop on the glucose meter strip.  My initial reading was 78, which is pretty low to me.  Then they give you a sugar drink.  It doesn't taste great, but at least it wasn't horrible.

Then they send you back out into the waiting room and you come back in one hour increments.  I was doing a two hour test, so they drew blood twice more after the initial draw.

Normally I would have been walking up and down the hallway to keep myself moving, but I was not feeling well.  Without eating, I was feeling nauseous and that's never good.  Thankfully, I toughed it out for the whole test and my "prize" was the snack bar I had in my purse.  I ate that before I left and was feeling better by the time I got home.

I'll find out the results in a week and a half at my normal checkup.  I really hope I do not have gestational diabetes.  Regular diabetes runs in my family, so it makes me a little more anxious.
